A Girly Card

I have never done one of these cards that I can remember. The minute I saw this stamp I liked it and didn't know why. It was different for me and so I thought I would do a different color combo than I usually do too.

It was stamped on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Archival Jet Black. Copic Spica At You Red was used for all of the areas on the mannequins that are not black. Red and Onyx Black rhinestone stickers from Mark Richards were also used as shown. That was mounted on Stardream Inferno. The dashes around the edges is Stickles Black Stardust Glitter Glue.

The background was created using Cuttlebug embossing folder Victoria and Neenah Solar White cardstock. That was also mounted on some Inferno. A piece of May Arts Black Crocheted Ribbon was placed in the middle of the background. The image was mounted in the middle on top.

The black heart clip from my miscellaneous stash was placed on the left. The red rhinestone is by Mark Richards. The tag is actually a real tag cut down and edged with a red marker. The dotted red ribbon is old and from WalMart. Some of the small red rhinestones were also added to the centers of the flowers in the black crocheted ribbon. The small gold heart is from Fancifuls, Inc.

A Poinsettia Card

Before we get started on this post, you will find how to do the snow flurries for your blog on the next post down. This card was a real trip in learning what not to do. :-0 Yikes

I fell in love with the stencils from The Crafter's Workshop, after seeing Suze Czosek using them on her cards at Suzanne's Stamping Spot. As a matter of fact I found a bunch of them very cheap at the time and now they are much cheaper. You can check them out on thefind.com. Sear for Crafters Workshop 6X, because they also come 12X12 of course.

IMAGE:

1. Stamped Impression-Obsession Poinsettia and Holly on watercolor paper with Brilliance Galaxy Gold. (I usually use Neenah Solar White and it totally reacts differently than on Watercolor.)
2. Painted the image with Twinks Garnet Red, Moss Green, and Sweet Alfalfa. Ran it through the Cuttlebug using Spellbinder's Large Circles die and then put it through again to emboss the edge. A Dark Green marker to do the Faux Stitching. (I see Jenny Gropp, at One Krafty Kat, use Faux Stitching and it is always just so gorgeous. I feel like I need to sit and practice. If anyone has a tip for me, tip away by EMAIL ME on the left or in the post area. TIA)

Card and Cardfront:

1. Next the Lotus Stencil TCW 142 (5.5") from Crafters Workshop was used to trace the base portion of the card and cardfront on a folded piece of Neenah Classic Crest Natural. The watercolor paper for my image matched!! If you look close you can see the top two points aren't really pointed (a little flat). It was cut out with scissors.
2. The little dots and Marquise shapes were traced at the same time as the card. The Silent Eyelet Setter was used on the holes and the X-Acto knife for the Marquise shapes.
3. A piece of Neenah Solar White was put through the Cuttlebug using their Textile Texture embossing folder. The dots on the Lotus Stencil were used to get the shape for the matte underneath the image.
4. The thin green ribbon from Michaels was threaded through the holes using a dental floss guide. The bow is by Bow-Easy...who else lately? Pearl beads were added to 2 of the ends.
5. One more shape of the base was traced on 2-sided scrapbook paper and used to line the inside of the top part of the card. It shows through on the front where the Marquise shapes are.

Assembly and Embellishments:

1. The squiggles were placed using a Sweetwater template and Copic Spica At You Gold pen. The 2 and 3mm Mark Richards pearls were placed using Glossy Accents.
2. The image was mounted using 3D Pop Dots.
3. The Pink Holly Pearls were done using Pinata Senorita Magenta Alcohol Ink and a Niji waterbrush I keep filled with Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution. I just rub the tip of the brush on the lid for a little bit of color and dab on the pearl. It dries quickly. ( I keep the brush marked with a Sharpie and stored with the brush side up.) Pinata Sunbright Yellow was used the same way for the 2mm pearls in the middle of the flower. Just a dab of Stickles Yellow glitter glue was also added.
4. The outside edge stitching of the cardfront was done with the same Dark Green marker.

It was a fun card, but for some reason I had to think harder what to do with the shape once it was cut out.

Is It Spring Yet?!!!!!

This image is Filigree Butterfly from The Artful Stamper. I actually stamped it using one from a Technique Junkie friend who was visiting to stamp with me. Thank you Barbara.

1. The image was stamped using Brilliance Galaxy Gold on Neenah Classic Crest Natural Super Smooth cardstock 80lb.
2. It was painted with Twinkling H2O's Meridian Blue, True Blue,
3. The stems of the flower were done with Twinkling H2O's Green Tea.
4. The Black outline was done with Black/Silver glitter glue.
5. The tail and antennae were done with a Copic Spica At You Black Glitter Pen.
6. The petals of the flower were done with Shimmerz Bubble Gum.
7. The centers of the flower are Mark Richards Crystal Stickers Elements 2mm Yellow.
8. The spots on the Butterfly and around the flowers were done with Liquid Pearls White Opal.

9. The edges were done with Wedges cut from Matte board purchased from Hobby Lobby was used to make an angle. Two layers of the Matte board were required to get the right thickness like the B plate. It was used separately on each side of the Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder where embossing was required. You can see that only 3 corners required embossing.

10. The cardstock for under the image is Hunter Green by SU. The edges were first rubbed on aVersamark Dazzle Champagne ink pad. A heat gun was used to dry the ink. It gave the edges a Goldish Green cast like the Green Tea on the vines of the flowers. The image was mounted on it.

11. A Martha Stewart Ribbon Punch was used on the left side. Pink Ribbon from Michaels was threaded through the slots and a Martha Stewart bow was tied and mounted on that as shown.

12. The word label was done using the inside and outside rim of an oval vellum tag. Identical cardstock was used for it. Mark Richards 3mm pearls were mounted on the ends.

Another Blast From The Past

I stamped and painted this image a couple of years ago. It didn't have the window dressing or the frame. Funny what leaving something alone for a while will do for the imagination. The image is on page 133 at The Artful Stamper. You can order unmounted with cling from them now, but you have to let them know. It's hard to find dealers here in the US who sell their stamps, so the only place I have found online is Stamper's Dream. If she doesn't have unmounted with cling, maybe she will order for you that way.

The image was stamped with Brilliance Galaxy Gold and painted with Twinkling H2O's Douglas Fir, Blue Grass, Moss Green, Garnet, Dreamsicle, Lemon Drop, Egyptian Gold, Caribbean Mist, and Warm Pecan. The candle drips, flames, and berries were accented with Glossy Accents. The Fiskars Rope border punch was used to do the side of the window on the left. Ribbon from Michael's was used to thread through and tie the knots in the punched area. The bow was tied separately and is my favorite Martha Stewart bow technique.

The tag was made using the Spellbinders Oval Scallop Large set (Smallest Scallop die) for the center and then the outline of the die was traced and cut for the border. Mark Richards Crystal Stickers 2 and 3mm Ruby rhinestones were used as shown. The words are from Impression-Obsession Clear Stamps Sentiments I. I have both the I and II. They cover almost any occasion. Gold cord was used to tie the tag to the bow.

Needle piercing was used for the Cross-Stitched edge holes. A Copic At You Spica Gold marker and Gold Gelly Roll Stardust pen were used for the stitches. The brown and the green cardstock for the background mattes were from Strathmore pads I bought on sale at an art store in Reno, NV, where I lived always before moving here 6 years ago.

All Ready For Christmas

Lottie, by Impression-Obsession was stamped with Stazon Timber Brown on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Super Smooth 80lb cover cardstock and painted with Twinkling H2O's Warm Pecan, Rubilite, Black Orchid, Moss Green, Sweet Alfalfa, Natural Linen, Pink Crocus. The faux pearls in her hair and on her neck and arm ribbons are Rangers White Opal Liquid Pearls.

The green matte behind Lottie and the cardfront is Stardream Fairway text weight paper. The BG paper on the top half is Neenah Paper Classic Craft Natural Super Smooth 80 lb. cardstock that was embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile Texture folder, and then a Mica Magic Regal Red ink pad was lightly dragged across the top embossed area. The Regal Red was also used on the edges of the cardstock behind Lottie. The paper on the bottom is half of the cardfront is Curious Ice Gold text weight paper that was scored on Scor-Pal every 1/2" using a Copic At You Spica Olive Glitter pen.

The corners were punched with an SU Ticket Corner Punch. The Pearls are Mark Richards Crystal Stickers Elements 3mm pearls. The snowflake is Cuttlebug Snowflake #2 Die and was cut from White scrap cardstock (thinking Green) and painted with Twinkling H20 Black Orchid.
The iridescent ribbon is May Arts and is a beautiful polyester blend of a Deep Pink and Moss Green. In one light it looks mainly Deep Pink and if you turn it you see mainly Moss Green. I love it and it doesn't wrinkle ever. The Stick Pen was made using a JoAnn Sew Essential Pearlized Leaf Straight Pin. They are not found online, but can be purchased in the area stores. They come with 6 different colors and 6 of each color in a pack for $1.49 plus tax. (all of this information was given to me by Kathie MaGuire and you can see how she used the pin here. The pearls and glass heart are Czech glass beads bought at hobby stores or EBay. I used Glossy Accents squeezed into the end of the pearl on the bottom to attach it to the sharp part of the pin.

Yooooooo Hoooooo

Yep! I'm up to the Leigh Hannan Impression-Obsession stamps again. This one is called Night Owl. I've had this stamp since last fall and was determined to try it out. I fell in love with the little owl. I used Twinkling H2O's to paint sky, clouds, and leaves. I used dimensional stickers for the owl. He was painted with Copic Spica pens and then used Rangers Glossy Accents to give him some extra dimension. Rangers Glitter Glues, Cinnamon for the berries and Buttercup for the stars, were used.

A TIP for when you would like your main image to have edges of a different color, but don't want to use cardstock for a frame: (First cut the edges to the size or shape you want. Then choose the right Tombow, Sharpie, etc. etc. for the color you need. Use the brush tip of the Tombow or the thick tipped Sharpie. Holding the pen in your right hand with the tip pointed up, and with the paper in your left hand, level to the middle of the tip, run the tip along the edge of the paper.) It didn't take long at all and gives the edge just the right contrast between the blue and yellow backgrounds.

The ribbon is contraband from a Michaels sales bin and the beads are from years back. Buttercup glitter glue was used on the star beads too! Fiskars decorative scissors Celestial (for the corners) and Seagull were used for along the edges. The rhinestones are brown flatbacks that were applied with Glossy Accents.
