A Kopy Kat Here

I fell in love with Jenny Gropp's "Paper Quilting" card and IO's Open Scroll Flower Die.  I also thought, WOW, a way to use some of my DP pieces (not used since falling in love with IO's CAC stamps).  If you want to see how beautifully done cards are done, don't miss Jenny's blog!  She really is One KOOL Krafty Kat!!!  Below is how I did my CAS of her card!

CARD FRONT:

1. Used the Open Scroll Flower Die to emboss the image 3 times on a 5.75"X4.0" piece of Laid white cardstock.
2. Die cut the flower using 1.75"X1.75" pieces of leftover pink print DP.  Used removable Scotch tape on the top of the die cut to keep in place.  Saved leftover negative pieces for back of card and envy.
3. Die cut leaves using 1.5"X.75" pieces of leftover green print DP.  Saved negative pieces for back of card and envy.
4. Glued die cut petals and leaves in place on the "TOP" of "embossed images" using Glossy Accents and needle-nosed applicator.  (It looks like you would place them on the backside, but guess how I know it's the front most embossed looking image? 
5. Used Swiss Dots embossing folder on the left side of image and then lined up with right-end row of dots to emboss the right side of image.
6. Each layer of cardstock for the base is increased by .25" on each side. 
7. Mounted sequins with glue dots.  Added a little glitter to the centers.  Punched the centers out of sequins and mounted on lower right.

CARD BACK & ENVY: 

1. Layered the back side as shown.
2. Glued the bottom end of each leftover flower to the corners with GA.
3. Lined up the leftover leaves with petals and glued the furthest end.  Trimmed the leaves at the petal area and glued petals last.
4. Added a piece of embossed swiss dots on envelope paper to the corner of the envy and then did flower and leaves like the back of card.  Added sequins there too!

I am so slow these days with Spring acting like Summer in my yard.  I am behind in hopping, but will get caught up in the next few days.  I have really missed your art!!!  Thanks for stopping by to look and share everyone!!

Peacock Nouveau

I fell in love with the peacock and feather image when I saw Karen Amidon's and Jenny Gropp's designs on their blogs.  I started my card some time ago and then life happened and I got side tracked, but today here it is:

IMAGES:

1. Peacock was stamped once and the limb (feather) was stamped 3 times and on an envelope with Memento Nautical Blue ink.  They were painted with twinks an fussy cut.  The circles on the feathers in areas were painted with Golden acrylic Iridescent Gold Deep.  Cupped and flat sequins were used too.  The flat sequins are are blue-green AB (Aurora Boreale) and show as different shades of blue and green. The itty bitty gold circles on the bird are left-over punched centers from a bottle of the sequins.  The bow is May Arts.

BACK AND ENVY:

1.  I am really liking using the back of my larger card fronts as the area for writing my letter to the receiver.  I did it on this card too.  It is thinner for mailing and I even though I layer.
2. Spellbinders Enchanted Labels 28 largest die was used for the front and back of the card.
3. Lil' Inker Mat Stitched Circle die cuts were used to mount the image and the sentiment (which was also stamped with Memento Nautical Blue).

Father's Day Is On Its Way

I had planned on doing a Shaker Card, but I couldn't come up with one that would be relatively simple for everyone to follow. I wanted something quick and easy. Mitra said she is going to surprise me with something I will love soon, so stay tuned every one. So today I chose to do a relatively simple Father's day card. This image by Leigh Hannan called Pears D2193. I also saw that it can be purchased in the Clearance section for $4.00. That's a deal if you ask me. Father's Day, June 21, will be here before we know it. I haven't quite decided what words I want to use in the lower right-hand side of the card either, but I still have a little time.

The image was stamped on white cardstock and painted with Twinkling H2O's and the seeds were highlighted with Stickles Cinnamon glitter glue. It was put through the Cuttlebug using a Spellbinders Rectangles Large Scallop die. The background behind the image was filled in with a couple of different colors by wetting the area down and then applying the watercolors so it would spread out. I stamp with Brilliance Galaxy Gold. I always heat it to speed up the drying time. It also makes it rise up a little. In addition to that, it acts a lot like a resist when I am going around it for the background you see.

The next layer behind that is Copper cardstock put through the Cuttlebug using the Spellbinders Large Deckled Rectangle die. It was then put through again to get the embossed edge. The image was mounted on it. Then copper brads were applied to the corners. Stickles Cinnamon was used for the remaining scallops on each end.

The DP paper had a holographic glitter on it. Stickles Cinnamon was applied and then an old postal credit card was pulled lightly across it as shown. When dry deckle scissors were used to trim the edges. Some of this DP was also used on the top inside of the card and the envelope. The DP was mounted on another piece of Copper cardstock.

Mounting was done next. I misplaced my slot punch. An X-Acto knife was used to cut slits on each side of the image. The ribbon was slid through the slits. The image was mounted and then the ribbon was secured to each side of the card.


The bow was made with the Bow Easy.
