How To Cement Rhinestone And Pearl Stickers

I have received some really wonderful ways to plant those rhinestones and pearls so they don't fly off. I received wonderful ideas from here and the IO blog, so I am posting all on both, in case you don't make to one or the other. They were as follows:

From my blog:
Karen from 1 Wacky Woman:

I never depend on the sticky stuff on the gems, they do fall off eventually. I drop a tiny drop of Glossy Accents onto the spot and it is even better than glue. It is also self leveling and if you want to add some height to the gem, make the drop a little bigger and don't press the gem down too much. I also use it to glue acetate and shrink plastic pieces. I hope this helps....
Sharon from Lil' Princess Card Creations:

I use good old White Elmer's glue. It sticks well and dries clear. A lil dab will do ya!!

Jan from Paper Tango:

I usually have the opposite problem, as I sometimes put them in the wrong place and need to move them and they won't budge. I do like those pen glue sticks with the tiny tip however if I do dislodge them and have to re-glue. I think it depends on the manufacturer of the gems. The cheap ones in the dollar aisle/stores are horrible. I pretty much stick to two companies for the pen tip glue. Zig makes a bigger tipped one that you have to pump to activate so this is nice for buttons and larger rhinestones. but my absolute fav is the Quickie glue pen from Sakura. http://www.sakuraofamerica.com/Pen-Glue. It is like a roller pen and I use it on paper flowers, those bagged loose crystals at Joann's and anything tiny. It dries fairly quick and is blue so you can see where you put it. And most stamp/scrap stores have them in a tin can at the checkouts for about a buck fifty. My kind of deal!

From the IO blog:
Terri at Paper, Scissors, {Stamps}...Rock:

I like to use Diamond Glaze to attach rhinestones. I usually squeeze out a
little on a piece of scratch paper and with tweezers, sort of dip my rhinestone
into it. Stays put for sure! HTH!

DJ said:

I use Crystal Lacquer to glue on rhinestones, pearls, buttons and other hard embellishments. It's the same kind of product that Diamond Glaze is... for adding a hard, clear, shine to images. It has a strong hold when used as a glue for embellishments. Glossy Accents and Crystal Effects are the names of two other similar products. Crystal Lacquer is available at Clear Dollar Stamps and Frantic Stamper. Frantic Stamper sells the bottles that include the pink needle nose attachment, and also sells the attachments separately, for when you're putting the lacquer on very small images or embellishments. Hope this helps! :)

Sherry said:
I have had the same problem. What I do is squeeze some 3D Crystal Lacquer or Crystal Glaze out on scrap piece of paper. I use a toothpick to apply a small dot of adhesive on my project and then apply the rhinestone or pearl. I also do the same for very small stickers. It gives them a little more holding power.
Connie said:
I always reinforce my rhinestones with a dab of Tacky Glue. I use a toothpick
and place a dab where I want the stone and then place the stone on it. Seems to
work great!
I want to thank each of your for the great tips. What am I going to do? Well, I printed this off so I can keep it to use. I have had one or all of these at one time or another. It will be nice to know I can use what I have at the time.

Thanks for stopping by to look and share.

Three Wonderful Awards

Linda at Lovely Linda's Craft Central, Cynthia at Happy Scrap, and Anisha at Crafting Queen have gifted me with awards. They are all wonderful and cherished.

This is the award from Linda. Linda lives in Canberra, Australia. Her cards are sensational and she is truly gifted with an eye for color and space. Thank you so much, Linda. I have seen your country in movies and online and think it is just so beautiful.

The second award is a friendship stamp and came from Cynthia, who lives in Brazil. They speak Portuguese in their country. I wish I knew your language. I used the Google Translator to thank her and accept. I hope it says the right thing...:-) You speak English really well. Thank you again, Cynthia, for thinking of me and sharing with me. Check out her blog....she loves to scrapbook and has some beautiful pages.

The last award, Kreativ Blogger, but definitely not the least, is from my blogging friend, Anesha, who lives in the United Kingdom. She makes beautiful cards. She also says that she owned by her cat. That really does sound familiar I think. Thank you so much, Anesha.

I really love to learn about other people's cultures and enjoy the art the create too. I would have a horrible time picking people with whom to share these awards because I haven't seen a stamp blog I didn't really like. I am going to ask that all of you who have not had these awards please take them and share them with those who visit your blogs.

Have a wonderful week everyone and I hope to be back with some cards soon. I almost had one and then found out I had done it a week early. LOLOLOL

Thanks for stopping by the blog to look and share.

A Question About Rhinestone and Pearl Stickers

I have just noticed another one of my cards with a rhinestone missing when I was getting it ready to send off. I use the rhinestone and pearls with the sticky stuff on the back, but I guess I want a stronger bond. I generally build everything and anything to last. LOLOLOL You know, in case someone keeps it and their great-great-great-someone takes it to the Yankee Road Show in a gazillion years. Ha!

Does anyone have a special technique to cement them to their cards without seeming to take away from the look? I would really appreciate your comments how how you apply them. Also, if any of you have questions I would be glad to share any answers I have and find the ones I don't!

Thanks for stopping by to look and share and I have a card to post shortly.

A Tribute To All Of You

If not for all of you, I wouldn't have a blog, have ideas to create, etc. So today is a big thank you for all of your art that inspires me, your comments that make me feel so good about me and so thankful for all of you that have touched my life in this small space of the universe. Profound yes, sincere always!!

Now I would like to share a card from a very dear friend who has touched my life in many ways. Her name is Jackie Kalchert. She sent me the card below and what a beautiful surprise it was. She is thanking me and I should be thanking her.

Enjoy:

You need to see that pear up close. Wow! It was cut with a Cricut, and she painted it and built the frame around it. The opening is from a Splellbinders die set. The light colored cardstock you see behind the pear is actually the inside of the card. Beautiful my friend and thank you so much.
Next is a card I made, that was inspired by an artist whose blog I visit on a regular basis. She is just so inspiring. The way she sees life with her eyes and then recreates it is marvelous. Her name is Suzanne at Suzanne's Stamping Spot and I smile every time I visit her blog. HERE is the card that inspired mine.

IMAGE:

1. Cardstock background was created 2 or 3 years ago using Sunset Glow and Fresh Pesto Radiant Pearls sponged on white cardstock and put away to grow old. Solid floral stamps from Clearly Inspired by Paper Inspirations (an RAK from my friend, Jaackie Kalchert) were stamped randomly with Moonlight White and then embossed with White Embossing Powder. The smallest die from Splellbinders Labels One was used to get all of the petals. They were placed with 3D Pop Dots.

The center flower stamens are brown Jesse James Tiny Sew Through Shapes with gold cord threaded and slip knotted on the up side. The little cloth flowers on the right hand bottom side are done with glue dots and pieces of the gold cord in the center. The whole thing is mounted to the new Cuttlebug Victoria Embossed White Laid paper cardstock. the ribbon is May Arts two tone.

Hope you like it and have a great weekend. I have missed being here less often. Thanks for stopping by to look and share and hugs to all of you, your art, and your blogs too~~~~

An IO Halloween Challenge

This challenge is for Halloween. I went shopping today and came home with a splitting headache! So the card I have started is just that....started. The card below is old to me and new to you, as Julie Koerber would put it!!! Hope to get my other card done soon.

IMAGE:

1. This sweet image, Candy Corn Tree was stamped with Brilliance Gold Galaxy on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Super Smooth 80lb.cardstock and painted with Twinkling H2O's Lemon Drop, Orange Peel, Icicles, and Warm Pecan.

2. The little pumpkin was painted with Orange Peel and Midori Melon.

3. Glossy Accents was applied to the corn and pumpkin.

4. The Moon and background are Lemon Drop, Warm Pecan, and Midori Melon.

5. The image was mounted on Curious Bronze cardstock.

6. That cute little Owl, was stamped with Brilliance Gold Galaxy, painted with Warm Pecan and Icicles. The beak and feet were painted with a very light light Orange Peel. Clear Gelly Roll Stardust pen was used on his white feathers, Bronze Gelly Roll Stardust pen was used on his dark feathers. He was cut out and the edges of his body were done by running the edges over a Sharpie Brown medium point pen. Before I did his eyes I applied Glossy Accents to all of him and let it dry. His eyes were done with a Golden Gelly Roll Stardust pen and when dry the Bronze Gelly Roll Stardust pen was used to do the centers of his eyes. He was mounted with a large pop dot on the tree branch.

7. The words, Hoo's Got Candy , were stamped with Clearsnap Mica Magic Bronze ink.

BACKGROUND:

1. The background behind the main image was done by putting Bazzill Bling Bright Lights through the Cuttlebug in the Perfect Paisley embossing folder.

2. Then the indented dots were done with the Bronze Gelly Roll Stardust pen.

3. Oh boy, more dots. Well...........I did the ones on the Solar White Cardstock with my paper piercer and lined them up by using a clear ruler along the edge and eyed the middle of the margin. Then I went back over them with the Bronze Gelly Roll pen.

4. The White dots were done on Curious Bronze cardstock using a White Signo Uniball pen. It was very cool because it dries as a layer and if I made a mistake when it dried I could scrap it off "carefully" with my X-acto knife and correct without a mess.

5. The ribbon is by May Arts and has the most beautiful dark brown and copper sheen to it. I hope you can tell. It i s so soft to the touch. This card was a rare experience. I have not done a card without pearls, rhinestones, metal, or beads as embellishments for a long long time.

A Cold Weather Charm

I really love the main image and also getting to use another one of my huge background stamps.

I just finished posting this on the IO blog. I am posting it here to save you a trip. :-) However, if you want to see how I did any of it. You can check it out over there by clicking HERE. Hee hee.

As you can see below I have also posted the materials I used here. Also I am going to post a tip that all of you may not know about.

*Tip- Don't ask me where I learned this... I use a lot of Red Rubber stamps with repositionable cling. When I am done stamping and cleaning the stamp, I always put the piece of paper, that comes on the back of the cling, back in place. I have found that if I don't do that the gray cling loses its static that makes it stick to the acrylic
block. I had been mount them on acetate pages, but some of them would really be hard to get off if I hadn't used them in a while. This works perfectly.

Supplies:

Stamps: Toasty Treats - E2342, Swirl Trees - CL196 or Make Merry - A 8147, and Make Merry - A 8147 (Done with my new MEGA MOUNT).

Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Super Smooth cardstock, Stardream Malachite

Inks: Brilliance Galaxy Gold, Twinkling H2O's Forest Green, Garnet, and Lemon Yellow

Accessories: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One, May Arts Ribbon, Bow Easy, Mark Richards 5MM Pearls, Liquid Pearls, Stickles Gold glitter glue, Czech Ruby Red bicone and Faux White Pearl glass beads, Heart shaped dressmaker pin from JoAnns.

Don't forget everyone, next week is our IO Halloween Challenge. You have from Thursday until midnight Sunday of next week to send in your card so it can be posted here and added to the IO Customer Photo Album. You must use IO stamps to qualify.

Thanks for stopping by the blog to look and share.

Last Summer Fiesta

IMAGE:
Remember the Butterfly Tree I did on vellum? Well, I liked it so much I thought I would try another image, but this time on regular White cardstock and embossing the Brilliance Moonlight White ink with Clear Embossing Powder. I really liked the result. The image is Fiesta Flower - H2330 by Leigh Hannan at Impression-Obsession.

It was painted with Twinkling H2O's. (NOTE - I heard LuminArte has been sold. They are going to limit their Twink colors to 72. They are offering a special on 12 new colors right now. It will be interesting to see what colors they keep.

The flower is painted with Cherry Sorbet and Buttercup in the center. The center was highlighted with Stickles Yellow and Orange Glitter Glue. 2MM Mark Richards pearls were added around the edges and a 5MM was used for the center. The leaves are Olive Vine, Sweet Alfalfa, and Mallard Green.

BACKGROUNDS:
The backgrounds behind the flower and underneath the Spellbinder Scalloped Frame is one of Impression-Obsession's NEW Cover-a-Card stamps, Swirls - CC002. SU Pretty-In-Pink and Certainly Celery inks were used.

The left-over pieces of the 5.75X5.75 image are going to be used for trim on the inside upper portion of the card and lower left-hand corner of the envelope.

The White frame is from Spellbinders Frameabilities Scalloped Edge Frame. Note the site for this is new and a 20% discount and Free Shipping. The embossed dashes around the frame are painted with Cherry Sorbet. The Certainly Celery background behind the frame was measured.

ASSEMBLY AND EMBELLISHMENTS:
The Pretty In Pink background was mounted to White cardstock.

The Fiesta Flower was mounted as shown with 3D Pop Dots to the Scalloped Frame.

That was mounted with 3D Pop Dots to the PIP background at an angle as shown.

Pearls were added in the upper left-hand corner. A Bow-Easy bow from Michael's ribbon was added in the bottom right-hand corner.

I used the Smile from Impression-Obsession's Clear Stamp Set Anytime Sentiments - CL43 in the lower left-hand corner of the frame.

This was a fun card. I have really missed stamping for me. LOLOL

It's That Time Again - IO Challenge Thursday

Today the challenge is to create a Fall card. My card uses IO Fall Squares - CL138 and Cover-a-Card™ Tapestry - CC024. All of the new products and stamps can be viewed RED RUBBER STAMPS HERE AND CLEAR STAMP SETS HERE.

My card is not very colorful here, but IRL it shines and the contrast of Deep Brown and White is kind of elegant. I stamped the background with Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate. It is the new 5.75X5.75 Cover A Card stamp. \
Talk about having enough to do extra things. That is what I used for the center. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Spellbinder Frameabilities Small Classic frame. I embossed it afterward, and that is where I applied the Stickles Cinnamon to give it some glitz, which you can't see. :-( The quote is also stamped with Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate.
The ribbon is White Grosgrain I bought somewhere years ago. The button has the same history. I used 3 and 5MM pearls for the accented corners.
Would you like to see your card featured on the Impression Obsession blog? Email your challenge cards using IO images to me . Every week cards sent are showcased on the IO blog and then posted in the IO Photo Album there with your name!!! If you want to take part in the challenge you have until Saturday midnight to email me your card. It must be created with IO stamps. For those of you who participate, thanks for joining in the fun!!
Now, in addition, don't forget to check out the other DT members to see what new stamps, etc. they are using on their always gorgeous cards. Below are their links. Also, I have updated their albums to include the newest stamps too.

So that's it for today. I have tons on cards in the make. I just need to get down to business. Thanks for stopping by the blog to look and share and it's great to be back.
