Lots Of Love For Lauryn Blog Hop For Cards

LAURYN RESTING DURING TRANSFUSION

Isn't she just precious? Let me introduce you....

Lauryn is two and a half years old and undergoing chemo treatment for Leukemia.  Her family members are parents, Josh and Elizabeth; siblings, Lily (age 7), Logan (age 5); and grandmother (fellow stamper, Linda Payne).  Lauryn loves princesses and Superman, and her Facebook page too!

Did you know the first dose of chemo takes 35-40 days? So she will be in the hospital for over a month the first time.  She will continue treatment for at least three years with in/out admissions.  The leukemia has affected 35% of her body and her left leg has some muscle atrophy.  They are working to correct that too.

Many in our stamping community asked how we could help.  Jennie Harper and Patti Painter started to plan and then Jennifer Scull and Colleen Holmes joined them in putting the details and hop for Lauryn together.  A big hug and thank yous to these ladies for their selfless giving of time and heart too.   The address for sending cards to Lauryn and her family is:

Children's National
Hematology/Oncology RM 437
Lauryn Newsome
111 Michigan Ave NW
Washington DC 20010

MY CARD FOR LAURYN WITH IMAGES BY IMPRESSION OBSESSION
You may also donate, if you choose, by clicking on the donate button in my SIDEBAR TO THE RIGHT to help offset the out-of-pocket expenses through PayPal.  When you donate through PayPal, under "Purpose" enter "Lauryn Newsome Family".  When all family members visit Lauryn, meals in the cafeteria can cost $60 or more a day.   They also live 2.5 hours away.  They can stay at McDonald House for $15 a night when available.

You can get updates on Lauryn and her treatment by clicking on the Facebook link above.  Her family has shared how encouraging it is to receive a simple "like" on Facebook or to read the words of love and encouragement that are posted.

Below are the bloggers who have joined Jennie and her crew in promoting this Card Drive.  Hop with us to see our cards and/or blog candy (including me).
For my BLOG CANDY I am using Inlinkz so you can see each stamp.  They are ALL new.  Some are in their original cases and others are in zip lock bags (how I store all of my "stamping stuff".   To be eligible for the drawing (selected by Random.org) to win them ALL, please leave a comment letting me know if you plan to send a card to Lauryn, parents, or siblings and/or donate through PayPal.

Any help you can give will be much appreciated.   The drawing for my candy ends Friday, April 18, at 11:00 p.m.  The winner will be announced  Saturday on my blog post.  Thank you and big hugs for playing.

BLOG CANDY:

Thank you all again for stopping by to look and share.

Beautiful card Shirley, and thank you for your kind comments on my blog! I was a way this weekend and didn't have an opportunity to make a new card for Lauryn and participate in the blog hop. I do have a card that I made a couple of years ago that I could send her. Children's Hospital (as we locals call it) is one of the best in the country. I am sure she is getting excellent care.

Hi, Shirley, your card is precious for little Lauryn. Our son was also critically ill the first 6 years of his life, so we understand about the heart-break, stress, and expenses. I've written privately to you about the donate button. hugs, de

It is so hard to see little ones going through so much, your card is just darling and sure to bring a smile, as it did for me, love the coloring and that too cute sentiment! I will get a card out to her, I don't have pay pal and we have decided not to sign up for that so I won't be able to send money through that way.

Hi Shirley!
I meant to comment the other day, but I got distracted by looking to see what I might have to make a card for little Lauryn. I'll send a card to her family, and one to her as well. So sad to think of all that such a little one has to endure. So great of you to take up such a good cause!
