My First Almost Christmas Card!

PARTRIDGE IN PEAR TREE
I have had this image forever and to prove it, it is from Rubber Stampede and I could not find it for sale anywhere but on EBay.

IMAGE:
  1. Stamped on white cardstock with Brilliance Galaxy Gold and heat gun used to dry the ink.   The pears were stamped again and the leaves too.  They were all fussy cut.  They were painted with twinks, and all but leaves turned over and embossed from the back with stylus.  Added Glossy Accents to bird's eye.  After it was mounted I brushed on Wink of Stella Brown. It looks great next to the Galaxy Gold.
BACKGROUND:
  1. (To the best of my recollection) - This BG was done eons ago, just like the image!!  Stamped a fern here and there on natural cardstock with VersaMark, covered with Clear EP, and embossed.
  2. Spayed Radiant Rain Fern here and there, sprayed with Radian Rain Solar Gold, sprayed with a little water to mix a little and then laid aside to dry.
  3. Heated with heat gun to dissolve the Clear EP.  BE careful not to burn if you try this.  Laid aside for years. ;-)
  4. Added the green trellis leave border stamp with Memento Bamboo Leaves and painted leaves with twinks.
CARD FRONT AND FOLD PREP:
  1. Two die cuts from white cardstock and 2 die cuts from white text paper.  The text cuts are to line the backs of the cardstock die cuts so it looks more finished.  The nerd in me.... ;-).  They were put together like it describes in my tutorial HERE   Cut two smaller die cuts from white cardstock for inside top decor.
  2. Used the largest die as stencil on the prepared BG and mounted to cardstock side; added ribbon across the front and taped in the middle on back.

ASSEMBLED:
  1. Mounted bird in middle of front.  Mounted pears on back for inside top.
  2. Used largest die inside to trace pieces of BG for inside top and bottom as shown.
  3. Added a corner of BG to envy (Peeled top layer of cardstock so it is thin); peeled of top layer of 2 leaves and added to the corner of envy.
  4. Embellishments added are:  Viva Ice White Pearl was added to dots on BG pieces and to make a heart on envy; baby half hearts were added to front and inside card as shown.
If nothing else it's a loving start toward Christmas!!!  Thanks for stopping by to look and share!

  3. What a gorgeous card Shirley!! I love how you colored it! I've never used those Twinkling H2Os but you are a master at them. It's never too early to start on Christmas cards!

BTW, I on the card you asked me about I used Gelatos from the big starter set you get a Michaels. I've also purchased some individually at Ellen Hutson.

  6. Wow, gorgeous creation Shirley! Your blog is very fancy too; I need to update mine, but I'm afraid I'll mess up if I try... :0)
Glad to see you using your beautiful twinkling paints...also you had asked me about Silks, and maybe it's because I'm used to watercolor, but I did add water to mine when using them. I suppose I should have used Golden medium or something, but I just added a bit of distilled water.

  20. How pretty this is. You've shown an adorable way to use a stamp for more than just Christmas. Thank you by the way for the information about the pop-up window. I changed my blog as I find it so much easier commenting at others blogs with that set in place.

  24. Hi Shirley, Hope your part of NC is not getting any of this 'weather stuff'. We've missed it so far, but told to watch each day. Saw your link at Mary Mac's over at Rudy Day, so had a quick zip over to see what was going on. I'm loving this card. #1, that's one of my fav S/Bs. That WoS on the card is brilliant too. Don't you just love those markers? Saw a neat video last night with WoLuna, and trying to find some (reasonably priced!) They look even more fun. I really like your background. Radiant Rain spray? Don't know that. Think I have some RRain (old stuff) in the tiny pots. Wonder if that would mix up into a spray? So many good ideas from this post, my friend. This is a lovely, well done card, and that fussy cutting...um hummm! Take care. TFS & Hugs

Gorgeous Christmas card. I love how you decorate the inside as well.
I stamp the heck out of the back of my cards with little off the wall sayings and stuff (my personal "hallmark") but never think of using that blank canvas on the inside too!
